BMW Motorcycles

"BMW makes motorcycles, too!!?" I have been asked that question more than once by the non-Beemerphiles and they are shocked when I inform them that BMW has produced motorcycles longer than they have cars! In the beginning, that was NOT so, but the Versailles Treaty changed all that. The Treaty basically prohibited BMW from manufacturing aircraft engines because they could be used to wage war upon their neighbors, and their neighbors had had their fill of that crap for a while! To say that BMW was dragged kicking and screaming into the motorcycle business would be an understatement as one of their primary engineers, Max Friz, thought cars were a "stupid conveyance" and he had an even lower opinion of motorcycles.

More to come when I feel like it...
